What I Do

To keep your new home cozy and warm during the cold season, you need to consider more than just insulation and heating. As practice shows, high-quality insulation alone is not enough. Proper installation of vapor barriers and waterproofing films is equally important.

Vapor- and hydro-barrier films protect roofing insulation and the entire house from excess moisture. They accelerate vapor release outward while supporting the thermal insulation system. Waterproofing films are most often used under slate, tiles, or metal roofing. Thanks to micro-perforation, hydro-barrier films provide better vapor permeability compared to regular vapor barriers.

Construction films and membranes protect roofs from snow, rain, and condensation. Vapor barriers are recommended for any roof type or material, as their main role is to block indoor water vapor (from cooking, washing, showering) from damaging the insulation.

Today’s market offers a wide range of roofing films and membranes at different prices. They can be divided into three main categories:

  • Polypropylene films

  • Polyethylene materials

  • Superdiffusion membranes
